Naarkishumu from Sidai Design, Tanzania
She is from Ngorongoro, Tanzinia,
where livestock belonging to the Massai tribe graze alongside wild animals.
She likes working for Sidai
becuase she was not able to make a living in her village,
but now she makes money for her children.
She has been beading with Sidai since 2013,
making her one of our longest standing beaders.
Three of her daughters are also beaders with us!
She says that since working for Sidai all nine of her children have plenty of food,
and each of them– male and female – have been educated equally.
Aside from beading, Koko Sadera is also a midwife.
She has delivered the babies of many of our mamas here at Sidai!
"I have been working here for 14 years.
From my work I can support my two kids' education and also daily expenses.
This is the first work I have ever done and it has suited me well. I wish to learn more here as I love what I am doing and want to continue doing as long as I can."

Virginia Wanjiku from SASA Design, Kenya
Virginia struggled throughout high school due to lack of finances and support.
However, she was optimistic about finding work.
After finding work at Sikia Sasa Designs,
she has become one of the best designers.
Her ability to earn an income has moved her to another level.
She is able to support her children and family.

Susan's only work opportunity before joining Sikia Sasa was collecting trash for recycling.
As a single mom, she is now able to support her son and family.
Flora as a single mother who is very dedicated.
She can now smile and be proud
since she is employed and can support her children.

Rita Bohora from Friendshandicrafts, Neapl
This young 28 year old artisan works in the stitching department of our organization.
She is originally from Ramechhap and now she is living in Kathmandu
with her only son while here husband is serving in the Nepalese Army.
She is more into using her skills in stitching to earn a living for her family.

She works in the cutting department where she uses patterns to cut different pieces of a fingerpuppet bag.
Although she has obtained basic qualification only,
she is earning a living using her skiills in our organization.

Danith from Friends-International, Cambodia
Danith is the first person who prepares the tire inner tubes for production. She reviews them to make sure they're strong enough to be sewn,
then gives them their first wash.
Next, she cuts the tubes into smaller sizes
and gives the pieces a second wash before handing them off to the team.

it is possible to sew with tire. And always people are shocked cuz they haven't yet seen products like those!"

Chantha from Friends-International, Cambodia
When it comes to pockets and zippers,
Chantha is a master.
After learning how to sew from her mother,
she went on to excel at the intricate details
and technical requirements of making bags and accessories.
